Donald Trump continued his media blitz regarding a potential presidential campaign yesterday. Trump joined Dave Price of WHO TV 13, who was a guest host on WHO Radio yesterday for a brief interview. Trump’s interview was similar to the one he game to Rush Limbaugh the day before.
Trump flirted with a presidential run 2000 before dismissing the notion, but this time around he seems more serious. Trump’s Executive Vice President and Special Counsel, Mike Cohen, travels to Iowa next week to have talks with Republican officials and key activists.
Below is Price’s interview with Trump
Huckabee: How Do We Get Washington Back On Track?
- Saturday, February 26, 2011
Tomorrow, I kick-off my book tour for A Simple Government. I wrote this book because I am sick and tired of watching the Obama administration and the career politicians in Washington stumble over decision after decision.
A Simple Government is about the twelve things I believe we really need from Washington to get the country back on the right track.
It’s my hope these twelve essential truths will have you nodding in agreement, whether you’re a Republican, an Independent, or even an open-minded Democrat. I believe they can help us put aside our differences, tone down the partisanship, and return to the simple principles of the Founding Fathers: liberty, justice, personal freedom, and civic virtue. And they can help us tackle even the most seemingly complicated of today’s problems.
These are just some of the things I discuss:
You can’t spend what you don’t have; you can’t borrow what you can’t pay back. Families, businesses, towns, cities, and states all have to balance their budgets or face dire consequences. Why shouldn’t the federal government be held to the same standard? And if that means making some hard choices now, it’s a far better alternative than saddling our kids and grandkids.
The further you drift from shore, the more likely you are to be lost at sea. The Founders expected the federal government to be subordinate to state and local governments. How can politicians in DC know the best way to help farmers in Iowa, autoworkers in Michigan, or teachers in California? They can’t. So every problem should be solved at the most local level capable of solving it.Bullies in the playground only understand one thing. There’s a time and place for diplomacy, but we can’t protect the country just by negotiating with our enemies. We need a strong national defense and a counterterrorism policy that focuses on effectiveness, not political correctness.
The most important form of government is the family. In the long run, the only way to ensure prosperity, safety, and equal opportunity is to make sure we raise our children to be ethical and productive citizens. No bureaucracy can replace parents in that essential role, so we have to do everything possible to help parents do their job.
As I said, I have laid out twelve foundational ideas for the reclaiming of our government by “We the People.” I hope, you will take a moment and learn about my new book because I truly believe you’ll agree with and enjoy much of what I’ve written. You can learn more about A Simple Government by visiting my website here.
You can also learn more about the book tour, RSVP for one of its stops and find useful links to help you purchase the book.
Please keep an eye on your email inbox for another message from me early next week about the book and how the tour is going. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!
With gratitude,
Mike Huckabee

Pawlenty delivers on substance at first “Presidential Lecture Series” event

Tim Pawlenty said all the right things during the inaugural “Presidential Lecture Series” event sponsored by The FAMiLY Leader. A crowd of 150 attendees, plus a dozen media members, gathered at Pella Christian High School early Monday afternoon to listen to the former Minnesota governor. The crowd liked what they heard, but was not blown away by Pawlenty’s delivery.
If elections were won only on substance, Pawlenty would stand a strong chance in the 2012 Iowa Caucus. However, style matters too. Oratorical skills propelled Barack Obama to the White House in 2008. Pawlenty will need to become a more passionate speaker as the campaign moves forward. He possesses an everyman quality that could endear him to caucus goers, but lacks the soaring rhetoric of Obama, folksy humor of Mike Huckabee, and fiery charisma of Chris Christie.
However, when it comes to the issues, Pawlenty’s record and stances stack up very well against the other potential 2012 candidates. It is that record that Pawlenty must use to set himself apart from the field. The purpose of the “Presidential Lecture Series” is to find out where the candidates stand on pro-family issues. Pawlenty’s 20 minute speech to the Pella crowd drew little response. However, he scored points during the question and qnswer session, conducted by The FAMiLY Leader’s CEO Bob Vander Plaats.
Santorum Posts Impressive Fundraising Number

A lot is always made out of the fundraising numbers that presidential candidates, or in this instance, potential presidential candidates, are able to put up.
In the year-end period, Mitt Romney led all potential Republican candidates with $307,000 raised. Not surprisingly, Sarah Palin came in second with $279,000.
Where the surprise lies is in what long-shot presidential candidate Rick Santorum was able to raise. Santorum raised an impressive $194,000, besting the efforts of John Thune, Michele Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, and Haley Barbour.
Santorum’s strong showing shouldn’t go unnoticed. While Santorum’s presidential aspirations have been scoffed at by the national media, so too were Mike Huckabee’s in 2007. Santorum has been busy traveling to New Hampshire and Iowa, but it’s also apparent that he’s been busy fundraising too.
Politics is a game of expectations, and Santorum’s recent fundraising totals beat expectations. Other potential candidates, like Barbour, Gingrich, and Pawlenty, didn’t meet or exceed expectations at a time when these numbers are getting immense scrutiny as the 2012 campaign begins.
Year-End Period Fundraising Totals
Romney: $307,000
Palin: $279,000
Santorum: $194,000
Thune: $71,000
Bachmann: $71,000
Pawlenty: $59,000
Huckabee: $35,000
Gingrich: $31,000
Barbour: $9,850
